Weekly Update for Dec 14

Here are your announcements for the coming week:

The Waco Scottish Rite Bodies and Lee Lockwood Library and Museum offices will be closed from noon December 18, 2020 through January 4, 2021.

The next Waco Scottish Rite Stated Meeting will be January 4 at 7:30pm. This will be an Open Meeting and Candidate Forum for the Grand Lodge of Texas officers who are running this year. There will be a meal at 6:30pm in the Library. Please RSVP by December 30 if you plan to attend. COVID-19 guidelines will be in effect, so please bring a mask for the meeting.

The February 1st Stated Meeting will be a “catch-up meeting, where all missed business over the last few months (budgets, new and old business, etc) will be discussed. More information to come.

Reminder: per the SGIG, meals can once again be served. We are required to follow all Covid-19 food guidelines.

Waco Scottish Rite Charitable Foundation

The Waco Scottish Rite Charitable Foundation has a Community Grant Program available. These grants are for any Scottish Rite Club, Lodge of Perfection, Masonic Lodge, or Eastern Star Chapter(s) community projects. If any of these organizations raise money for a community project (a project that helps those in a community) the WSRCF will match up to $2,500.

This week’s announcements are largely the same as last weeks:

Our annual “Giving Thanks on Thanksgiving” event in conjunction with Meals on Wheels will be Thanksgiving Day (Nov. 26th) beginning at 7:30am, and should finish by 11:00am. This year we are expecting to provide a minimum of 550 meals for those in need. As usual, it will be downstairs in the Howard Ballroom at the Lee Lockwood Library and Museum. Per COVID-19 guidelines, face masks are required.

KWTX will be hosting their annual Food For Families on November 20 from 7:00am-8:00pm. They are looking for volunteers for two shifts: 7:00am-12:00pm and 12:00-8:00pm. They need people to wrap pallets and prepare food during each shift. If you are willing to help or have any questions, please contact Mike Waldrop or Stan Parker (stanltt@aol.com, 254-749-4934).

We hope everyone is doing well and staying safe! Here are a few reminders for upcoming events:

First, there will NOT be an Educational Zoom meeting this week. Due to COVID-19 we are needing to postpone, but we intend for the December Zoom call to take place as scheduled.

50th Anniversary

 

 

 

Lee Lockwood 50th Anniversary

The 50th Anniversary of the Lee Lockwood Library and Museum is approaching. We at the Scottish Rite Foundation of Texas along with the Waco Scottish Rite Bodies, the Lee Lockwood Library & Museum, and the 50th Anniversary Committee members have been working very hard on the 50th Anniversary, while also working to bring the building into the public eye here in Waco. Over the last three years, we have been renovating and redesigning the Library and Museum. Our goal is to bring the building into the modern age and include ourselves in the Waco tourist circuit.
On September 21, 2019, we will hold a Grand Re-Opening “Golden Gala: A Night at the Museum” 50th Anniversary celebration that will be open to the public and will act as the first event of the new Lee Lockwood Library and Museum. All proceeds from the Gala will go towards the preservation of the Lee Lockwood Library and Museum.
We are asking that everyone participate in the Gala so that we can continue to enjoy this magnificent building for another 50 years as we serve our Fraternity and Community. Our next 50th Anniversary Committee meeting will be Dec 12 at 6:30

 

Meals on Wheels on Thanksgiving Day.  Start at 6:30 A.M. and finish at 11:00 A.M.
No more 4th Saturday breakfast until after the first of the year.
January meeting will be installation of officers and candidate forum for those running for the Grand South of the Most Worshipful Grand Lodge of Texas.
Next reunion will be April 12 & 13, 2019.
Golf this month will be playing in the Lockwood Golf Tournament which will be on Wednesday, November 28, 2019 at Cottonwood Creek Golf Course, for more information contact Sam Cryan at 254-339-4629 or samcryan@aol.com.
